Cubs win two games

Despite winning two games this weekend, things went from god-awful to laughably distressing for the Cubs, who have had a year full of bad luck and injuries.

Mike Martz proposes to Az-Zahir Hakim

Detroit Lions offensive coordinator Mike Martz and wide receiver Az-Zahir Hakim announced their engagement last night. The two revived their partnership in Detroit after a five-year seperation. Wedding details have not been made available.

Cubs shut out at home

If trends set in Wednesday night's Cubs-Dodgers game continue, then Angel Guzman—winless in 10 starts for the North Siders—will have a great season once he is on another team.

Bears defense takes the rest of the week off

With the Detroit Lions looming, Bears defensive coordinator Ron Rivera decided to give his defense the week off. Rivera doesn't seem worried about the Lions offense, which scored a total of 6 points in their week one loss to the Seattle Seahawks.

A-Ram wins game for Cubs

Cubs third baseman Aramis Ramirez connected for a three-run homer in the seventh inning of Thursday’s Cubs-Dodgers game as his team won by a score of 6-5. Upon hitting the home run, Ramirez pointed his finger to the sky in triumph.

300-pound Kerry Wood kicked out of local Old Country Buffet

Since he went on the disabled list in mid-June, Cubs pitcher Kerry Wood has been trying to stay out of the public eye. That low profile came to an abrupt end last weekend, however, when Wood, who has ballooned to nearly 300 pounds, was kicked out of a suburban Old Country Buffet.

Lions receiver guarantees victory

The Detroit Lions come into their Week 2 match-up against the Bears with huge expectations—according to one of them, anyway. Despite the fact the Lions offense scored just six points on Sunday and will be facing one of the NFL’s top defenses, wide receiver Roy Williams is pretty confident his team will get its first win this week at Soldier Field.
