Greedy MacPhail stalls Roberts trade talks

Just last week, the trade of Oriole Brian Roberts to the Cubs appeared imminent as Chicago was set to jettison Ronny Cedeno, Sean Marshall and Sean Gallagher to Baltimore in exchange for the All-Star second baseman. But Orioles President Andy MacPhail--who was president/CEO of the Cubs from 1994 to 2006--has apparently soured on the deal and has asked the Cubs to increase their offer.

Dempster and Marquis suspended by MLB’s newly formed Dept. of Investigations

MLB Commissioner Bud Selig announced Friday the creation of a new Department of Investigations and on Monday handed out 30-game suspensions to several players, including Cubs pitchers Jason Marquis and Ryan Dempster. The Department is primarily responsible for conducting all investigations into violations of MLB's rules and policies, including investigations related to the use, possession or distribution of performance-enhancing substances by Major League or Minor League players, and other threats to the integrity of the game.

Blackhawks finally break losing streak in splitting weekend games

The Blackhawks added one more to their losing streak Friday night as the Minnesota Wild came to town to beat Chicago 5-2, putting the losing streak at eight. But Sunday night the Hawks were able to top the Nashville Predators in overtime, 3-2. It was a big win for the morale of the team.

Noah benched as Bulls split weekend set

Take that, Joakim Noah. The loudmouth waste of a Bulls' draft pick found out just what it means to be a rookie in the NBA this weekend. After an outburst at assistant coach Ron Adams during Friday's shoot-around, Noah was benched by his coach Friday night. His teammates voted to extend the vacation through Sunday's game.

Blackhawks losing streak hits six after OT loss to Habs

There has been a lot of excitement in Chicago claiming the Blackhawks are on the rise. The billboards shout "Red Rising" all over the city. But here the Hawks are in 13th place in the Western Conference and currently riding a six-game losing streak--their longest of the season--after falling to the Montreal Canadiens in overtime last night 4-3.
