On a recent appearance on “Monsters in the Morning” — a new show on Comcast Sportsnet — Mayor Richard Daley told hosts Mike North and Dan Jiggets he would welcome a second NFL franchise to Chicago.
“I’d also take a college basketball team,” said Daley. “How can places like Durham, Providence, and Madison all have college teams while Chicago doesn’t have any?”
When informed there were several Division-I basketball teams in the city limits, including DePaul, Loyola, UIC and Chicago State, the Mayor clarified his point.
““I’m referring to basketball teams people watch and care about,” said Daley. “DePaul puts fewer fannies in the seats than the Chicago Slaughter.”
