Defensively, Roy Williams could hit, but he could not cover. That was glaringly pointed out during the past two seasons after the Cowboys switched to the 3-4 defense, and opponents worked pass routes through his zone.
For his part, Roy Williams became petulant with the media, blaming them for pointing out his deficiencies. So, the Cowboys have decided they like defensive backs that can cover receivers, and not just run past them during the end zone celebration.
