Blackhawks center Dave Bolland powered his team to a big 7-2 win over Vancouver Tuesday night, staving off playoff elimination for at least another day. It was Bolland’s first game in more than a month after he was forced to the sidelines with a concussion. He’s now recommending the same thing for his struggling teammates.
“I don’t know what it is, but thanks to my concussion, I saw everything so clearly when I came back to the ice,” Bolland said after the game. “The head trauma I suffered last month that caused me to miss 41 days of action has been the best thing that’s happened to me.”
Bolland then suggested that fellow Blackhawks like Patrick Kane, Marian Hossa and Duncan Keith also suffer concussions they can snap out of their postseason funk. He praised defenseman Brent Seabrook for being ahead of the curve after taking a vicious hit to the head from Vancouver’s Raffi Torres in Game 3 that forced him to miss Tuesday night’s game.
“Whenever Seabs comes back from his concussion he’ll be better than ever,” said Bolland. “Even if it’s next season or the one after that, he’ll eventually be playing great again and it’s all thanks to the magic of a concussion.
