Despite several key injuries incurred just late in the second quarter during Sunday’s Super Bowl, both the Steelers and Packers said the key positive of being in the locker room at the break was that they were able to avoid Black Eyed Peas eye-gougingly bad halftime show.
“I mean, we were pretty beaten up, and having 40 minutes to rest really helped a few guys,” said Packers CB Charles Woodson who broke his collar bone with less than a minute to play in the second quarter. “But what I think helped us more, more than anything, was that we managed to avoid having that ear poison by the Black Eyed Peas worm its way into our brains.”
Steelers WR Hines Ward addressed the halftime show saying, “Well, we really made a game of it in the second half, and even though we just fell short, I can safely say we wouldn’t have even had a chance if we had been forced to look at Fergie’s dog face for the entire halftime.”
Packers coach Mike McCarthy standing on the podium just after being handed the Lombardi Trophy summarized the feelings on both sides by telling reporters, “God, the Black Eyed Peas suck.”
