The Cubs are already putting newly signed closer Craig Kimbrel to work.
“Craig is such a good closer that we’re convinced he can undo the 11 blown saves attempts our bullpen has already piled up this year,” said Cubs President of Baseball Operations Theo Epstein. “It’s part of the reason we’re paying him nearly $15 million a year for the next three seasons.”
Kimbrel didn’t know if he was up for the task, but said he’d try.
“Whatever the Cubs need me to do, I’ll do,” said Kimbrel. “But they need to know I’m not perfect. Didn’t they watch me in the playoffs last year?“
