Lost in the excitement over the Bears’ 24-17 win against the Packers is that star defensive end Akiem Hicks is “extremely upset” about his lack of offensive consideration in Sunday afternoon’s game.
“The NFC North title doesn’t mean anything unless I’m playing both sides of the ball and getting plenty of looks on offense,” said a visibly angry Hicks immediately after the game. “Just when I thought Coach Nagy was recognizing my value on offense, I get frozen out during our biggest game of the year.”
Hicks’ anger didn’t even dissipate during the postgame “Club Dub” locker room celebration. Rather than join his teammates for a raucous dance party, the defensive end simply stood in a corner, secretly hoping a teammate would come in and check on him. Instead, everyone stayed focused on the party, which severely disappointed Hicks.
“If this is the kind of team we’re going to be, I might just pack it up,” said Hicks. “Next week, if I don’t get at least 15 snaps on offensive, I’m out of year.”
