After a dominating performance in a 34-22 win over the Lions on Sunday, Bears head coach Matt Nagy emphasized the importance of team play after kicker Cody Parkey missed two field goals and two extra points that all hit the upright. “Who needs a kicker when you have a defense like this, am I right?” asked Nagy, as he nonchalantly shook a black Magic 8 ball in his hand.
This offseason, Parkey signed a four-year $15 million contract to add stability to the position after the Bears released all-time scoring leader Robbie Gould in 2016. The ex-Miami Dolphin has missed 5 attempts in 9 games this season and was seen smiling on the sideline during the Lions game. Pressed if the Bears will look into signing another kicker this week, Nagy asked reporters “to wait a second for the bubbles to clear” before saying, “You can save 15 percent or more signing up with Geico.”
