The Cubs’ 2019 schedule was released Wednesday and it coincides perfectly with the list of games injured pitcher Yu Darvish will miss next season.
“I want very much to perform at a high level for the Chicago Cubs,” said Darvish through an interpreter. “But after reviewing the 2019 schedule that just came out, I’m afraid I won’t be able to participate in any of those games.”
Darvish said he was “hopeful” about his availability by 2020, but would wait until that schedule was released before officially deciding the games in which he will be physically unable to participate.
