Matt Nagy’s impressive coaching resume isn’t why the Bears hired him to lead their football team. It’s his Arena League QB stats.

“Matt threw for 374 TDs in only six seasons of Arena League football,” said GM Ryan Pace, who’s secretly a huge Arena League fan. “He had 85 TDs in one season. With output like that, he’d be one of the best QBs in NFL history.”

Added Pace: “Plus, half those TDs came when he was playing for the Columbus Destroyers and they had even worse depth at receiver than the 2017 Chicago Bears.”

Asked about his qualifications for an NFL head coaching role, Pace was not quite as confident.

“Well, he made Alex Smith look like an MVP this year, which is pretty impressive,” said Pace. “Other than that, I’ve got nothing.”
