Saying how difficult it might become for his family because he’s taken a huge cut in salary, White Sox team captain Paul Konerko is seeking a part-time job to supplement lost income.
Konerko signed a 1-year, $2.5 million contract for 2014 after his 3-year, $37.5 million deal finished at the end of the 2013 season. Previously, he signed a 5-year, $60 million contract that ended in 2010.
“I posted my resume on Snagajob.com,” the Sox slugger said. While prospects for his employment are promising, Konerko has turned down jobs that didn’t meet his criteria.
“I’m looking for something that’s going to give me some benefits, like a 401K, health insurance and at least two weeks paid vacation.”
