Each year, families of employees of the Chicago Cubs attend the team’s annual Halloween party at Wrigley Field, a festive event with a good time had by all. It’s an occasion when players, team management, staff and their children gather together and share scary stories of the past baseball season over glasses of hot apple cider.
Chairman Tom Ricketts presented awards for the most creative costumes, with this year’s grand prize shared between President Theo Epstein and General Manager Jed Hoyer for their disguises as baseball executives.
“During the time we’ve been doing this, there haven’t been more creative costumes than those worn this year by Theo and Jed,” Ricketts said. “They’re even better than Crane Kenney’s Louis XIV, Ryan Dempster as The Joker, and Mike Quade’s Uncle Fester outfit.”
“I have to give the boys credit. They really pulled it off,” Ricketts mused. “Next year, I might dress as a magician and make them disappear.”
