Telling reporters that he will attempt to make amends after uttering a gay slur in a post-game interview after Game 6 of the NBA Eastern Conference final against Miami, Pacers center Roy Hibbert apologized for his comment, hip-hop reference “no homo.”
“I meant no disrespect to our gay brothers, not that there is anything wrong with that,” Hibbert said in a Tweet while referring to a noted episode of ‘Seinfeld’ about gays titled “The Outing.”
“More than anything, I must apologize to Jason Collins,” a remorseful Hibbert said, referring to the first openly gay NBA player. “To make up for it, I asked Jason out for a drink.”
“David West, Danny Granger, Tyler Hansbrough and Lance Stephenson will join us so me and Jason aren’t alone.”
