After Phil Jackson’s memoir, “Eleven Rings,” was revealed to contain a section where the Hall of Fame coach compared Michael Jordan and Kobe Bryant, LeBron James has spoken out to media to express his displeasure that Jackson failed to mention him in the conversation, despite the fact that James never once was coached by the former Lakers and Bulls coach.
“Just another case of someone discounting my game and what I bring to the court day in and day out,” the four-time MVP told media members during a press conference he held to chastise Frank Vogel after misinterpreting a statement about the Heat made by the Pacers coach over the weekend. “The media does nothing but disrespect me, as evident by the fact that I’m not even included in this discussion of two superstars that played for the same coach, who I’ve only met a dozen or so times in my life.”
“It’s just really disheartening to hear that Jackson apparently doesn’t respect what I do. If you’re talking about players who have an intensity and a will to win no matter what the costs, I can’t understand how I could be left out of that conversation.” James then stumbled from the podium, which he blamed on lingering effects from a hard foul two weeks ago by Nate Robinson, the 5-foot-9 inch Bulls point guard.
