Sixty-six competitors. Fourteen sports. Zero medals. The rough and tough country of Ireland is shut out in this year’s athletic competition … and they’re a wee bit upset. Patrick O’ Loughlin, head of the Republic of Ireland’s Olympic Committee, is calling for a new Games for 2015.
“We want to open up another season, a ‘Spring Olympics’, and we’re willing to host it,” he said. “We’re still in the early stages of developing the events, but we have some good ones lined up. There’s Sheep Shaving, Pub Song Singing, and Horseback Riding on the beach like they did in ‘The Quiet Man.'”
Added O’Loughlin: “Oh, and of course Drinking.”
