After scoring only 20 runs in their last seven games, and reaching a losing streak of eight, the Cubs received some outstanding news after Tuesday’s 2-1 loss to the Astros.
“We’ve been invited to the PGA Championship,” a somewhat perplexed manager Dale Sveum told the media. “Apparently, consistently low scores act as an automatic qualifier for the event.”
When told of the news, Cubs President Theo Epstein immediately looked at the glass half-full.
“Well, at least we’ll be competing for a championship of some kind,” Epstein said as he threw a fist pump toward his pal and general manager Jed Hoyer.
