The jovial atmosphere of Opening Day in Wrigleyville was dampened Thursday as legendary famous Cubs fan Ronnie “Woo-Woo” Wickers held a tearful press conference announcing that 2012 would be his final season following the team he loves.
“I WOO! am getting WOO! too old for this WOO!” said Wickers, who turned 70 last fall. “I WOO! need to settle down WOO!, get a full-time job WOO! and start to prepare for retirement WOO! WOO!”
Wickers said he planned to fall back on his bioengineering degree, which he earned in 1965 after graduating with high honors from MIT.
