The White Sox would seemingly be happy about their weekend series against Detroit. Despite trailing early in all three games, the Sox were able to come back, losing only the series finale. Despite promising play from the club, Manager Ozzie Guillen was not happy after Sunday’s game, when without being asked, he called Tiger outfielder Magglio Ordonez a “Venezuelan piece of [expletive deleted]. I curse the ground he walks on.”
Lost in Guillen’s post-game tirades was the impressive play by the team over the weekend. On Friday the Sox bullpen held the Tigers after Detroit took a 4-2 deficit, and Paul Konerko and Darin Erstad were able to lead the comeback, with the Sox eventually winning 5-4.
When asked about the steady play of the bullpen this season, Guillen said, “If Magglio was in the desert, dying of thirst, I would not give him water.”
The Sox also had an impressive outing Saturday, when the club overcame a first inning grand slam by Carlos Guillen, rallying to win 7-5 in extra innings. Jermaine Dye, batting around .200 for most of the early season, came though with a double which scored the go-ahead run in the 10th.
When reporters asked Guillen if Saturday’s game could possibly break Dye out of his slump, Guillen said, “Magglio is dead to me.”
The Sox only loss of the weekend occurred on Sunday, when Guillen choose to bring in reliever David Aardsma with a two-run lead in the ninth, leaving closer Bobby Jenks in the bullpen.
“Magglio wants an enemy, now he has one,” was all Guillen would contribute regarding his decision to not bring in the closer.

Times the average Sox fan made the joke, “David Aardsma will be pitching in Double-A next week” after the reliever blew a ninth inning save Sunday.
