The Blackhawks Wednesday announced Brent Sopel would bring the Stanley Cup to this weekend’s Gay Pride Parade in Chicago’s Boystown neighborhood. Attendees were happy the NHL champions were acknowledging the city’s gay population but disappointed they were sending its ugliest player to do so.
“Sopel’s all right, I guess,” said Daniel Smith who plans to attend the parade Sunday. “I wish it would have been those cuties Jonny Toews, Patrick Sharp or Patrick Kane. Even that lumberjack Brett Seabrook would have been great to see.”
Others weren’t quite as diplomatic.
“Sopel? Ewwwww! He looks like a caveman,” said Brendan Liski who will be dancing on RentBoy.com’s float Sunday. “God, even Coach Quenneville would have been a better choice, as long as he hasn’t shaved that adorable mustache.”
