Joe Maddon returned to Wrigley Field Friday morning to find his front office was throwing him a surprise retirement party.
“It was a little weird to be blindfolded as I was led into the clubhouse, but I figured some of the guys were just looking for a way to ease the mood after a tough week,” said Maddon. “When Theo and Jed took the blindfold off and I saw a ‘Happy Retirement’-sign hanging there, I knew this wasn’t going to be good.”
