Sunday’s Cubs win over the Cardinals was sullied by the despicable behavior of a fan in prime seats who stole a ball intended for a little boy, in what owner Tom Ricketts is calling an incident “worse than Steve Bartman.”
“We ask all fans to treat each other with respect,” said Ricketts. “But if you’re asking me if what the fan today did is worse than Steve Bartman, and truthfully, that’s not a fair question to anyone.”
Added Ricketts: “Whatever you, don’t go pulling this quote out of context just to get clicks to your stupid website using the ‘worse than Bartman’ phrase from what I just said.”
There you have it. The owner of the Cubs not once but twice said what happened at Wrigley Field Sunday afternoon was “worse than Bartman.”
