The calendar might read 2018, but apparently some Blackhawks fans think it’s still an era long ago when it was socially acceptable to openly ridicule a stranger because of the color of their skin. Over the weekend, four Chicago fans were ejected for shouting racist taunts at Washington Capitals forward Devante Smith-Pelly.
For it’s part, Chicago’s front office issued a statement Sunday denouncing the incident.
“I can’t believe we have to remind our fans of this,” the statement read, “but please don’t be racist assholes.”
