It appears television cannot get enough of the Chicago Cubs. Fresh off their appearance on Saturday Night Live, NBC announced that Anthony Rizzo, David Ross and Dexter Fowler have been hired to anchor the network’s Presidential election coverage on Tuesday, November 8th.
Actor and longtime Cubs fan Bill Murray is also expected to provide commentary and analysis. He will sing the “NBC Network News Theme” in his famous lounge-singer style.
The network announced that newsmen Lester Holt, Chuck Todd and Matt Lauer have been sent down to Triple A-MSNBC.
Don’t expect Rizzo, Ross and Fowler to be the only Cubs you see on your television sets in the near future. Other networks are rushing to capitalize on the Cubs’ success. CBS announced they have hired Kyle Schwarber to be their newest correspondent for “60 Minutes,” while the E Network revealed pitchers John Lackey and Jon Lester will be appearing on several upcoming episodes of “Keeping Up with the Kardashians.”
