While it didn’t surprise New York Knicks fans, the 20,000 Catholics at Madison Square Garden and millions watching on TV were shocked yesterday when Carmelo Anthony refused to pass the mic to Pope Francis to start his mass. Anthony was brought in to introduce the Bishop of Rome, but he kept going up and down the court with the mic with no intentions of letting go.
“Why would I be shocked?” said long-time season ticket holder Anthony Scapaldi.”He wouldn’t pass to Stoudemire, Hardaway or Lin either.”
