Sources say Bulls GM John Paxson is set to name Iowa State’s Fred Hoiberg as the team’s new coach they’ll fire in three to five years, replacing the hugely successful Tom Thibodeau, who was bounced after five seasons of .600-plus basketball.
“We have a lot of respect for Fred’s drive and passion for this game,” said Paxson. “Sure, it’s that same drive and passion that will alienate him from the front office in a few years, eventually fracturing our relationship so badly that we hardly speak to each other until we finally fire him despite what will most likely be a very high winning percentage on the court.”
Added Paxson: “But for now, it’s all good.”
