The Cubs sent white-hot prospect Kris Bryant back to the minors Monday, where they plan to keep him until he’s capable of hitting a home run in every at bat at the Major League level.
“We appreciate what Kris has done this spring, but he had 40 at bats and only hit nine home runs,” said team President Theo Epstein. “That’s just not acceptable if he wants to play in the big leagues.”
Epstein also said even if he got to a point where he hit a home run in every at bat, the Cubs would still keep Bryant in the minors until he stopped spelling his first name with a K, which Epstein said was “a totally stupid way to spell ‘Chris.'”
