Police found the jockstrap of Pittsburgh Penguins goalie Marc-Andre Fleury in a Calumet City alley after the garment went missing following a series of dekes by the Hawks’ Patrick Kane before scoring a goal in an overtime shootout win.

“I’m grateful to the authorities for finding my athletic supporter,” Fleury told the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette. “The strap has great sentimental value ever since Ed Jovanovski of the Canucks sent it flying into the Allegany River my rookie year in 2003.”

Since his NHL debut in 2007, Kane has specialized in making opposing goalies’ hockey gear disappear.

Among items that remain at-large are the dentures of Flyers’ net-minder Michael Leighton after giving up the winning goal in the 2010 Stanley Cup final and a pewter hip-flask once owned by Cory Crawford.
