Following his controversial comments about domestic violence, Stephen A. Smith was swiftly shown the door by his former employer, ESPN.
“Mr. Smith made an unforgivable mistake: he smoked weed,” said ESPN program director Chip Benson. “His argument that women are to blame for physical abuse by their boyfriends and husbands is classic Stephen. Good stuff, really. But getting high in the parking lot after his show? That’s simply unacceptable.”
Benson went on to praise Smith’s views on gender issues.
“The guy just gets it. It’s a shame he chose to be a degenerate and smoke pot, because his views on the ladies are exactly the kind of thing we encourage here at ESPN, just like our friends at the NFL,” said Benson. “Two peas in a pod, really.”
