A day after Boston sports radio co-host Kirk Minihane issued a half-hearted apology for comments he made about Erin Andrews, saying if the female sportscaster gained 15 pounds she would be a waitress at Perkins rather than a top sideline reporter, the restaurant chain held a press conference saying Minihane himself isn’t the type of person they would hire.
“Oh gosh, we’d never hire a candidate like that,” said Michelle Smith, Perkins’ director of HR. “To be a successful server at Perkins, you need to be quick on your feet, patient, insightful and caring for other people. Mr. Minihane doesn’t appear to possess any of those qualities.”
Added Smith: “In fact, I’m not sure Mr. Minihane possesses marketable qualities for anything in the world other than sports talk radio.”
