Major League Baseball is expected to ban dangerous collisions at home plate on scoring plays, possibly as early as next season. The historic rule change will not affect the Cubs’ offense.
“We’d have to get a guy in scoring position first,” admitted Cubs President Theo Epstein. “Then we’d have to somehow force a play at the plate. Until that happens more than three times per season, I really don’t see this rule affecting us very much.”
Added Epstein: “Well, our offense anyway. I’m sure other teams will be scoring a lot more runs against us from now on.”
