In what he called a “perfect position” to be in, new Cubs manager Rick Renteria said he can’t wait to become the Cubs new radio analyst when he’s fired after his contract expires in three years.
“Whoever gets the radio analyst job succeeding Keith Moreland is just keeping the seat warm for me, baby,” Renteria told Cubs.com. “You know that I know that you know that this team will still be 90-loss sucky when my contract runs out, so I plan on making enough friends at WGN to get the job in 2017.”
In the event Renteria isn’t offered the radio gig in three years, the new Cubs skipper said he is confident he will be named a principal co-anchor on ESPN’s SportsCenter.
