Despite holding a spot on the Bears 2013 roster, defensive end Julius Peppers says he is truly enjoying his life of retirement.
“Man, my life is great,” Peppers told ChicagoBears.com in his first interview since the erstwhile Pro Bowler decided to mail it in just after the first preseason game earlier this year. “I spend extra time in the whirlpool at Halas Hall, get at least one massage per day, and two or three times each week, I meet Urlacher for lunch at Chipotle.”
Reminded that he is still under contract with the team, Peppers voiced little concern, but was miffed at the question being posed to him. “I am making so much money from my eBay business that I don’t really give a damn about my contract; it’s chump change now.”
Peppers cut the interview short saying he needed to get to several garage sales for what he said was a “hunt for product.”
Before leaving, Peppers said he was pleased also because, “I can spend more time with other Bears’ retirees, like Chris Conte, Craig Steltz, Major Wright and Earl Bennett.”
