While some gasped at hearing the news of Shaquille O’Neal holding a financial interest in an NBA franchise, let alone the cash-strapped Sacramento Kings, Commissioner David Stern thinks it’s a great move for the league.
“Shaq was the face of the NBA for years. So why can’t he become the face of the Kings?” Stern said on NBA TV. “However, I will not allow him to rename the team. No way will they be called the Sacramento Shaq Daddies.”
O’Neal had a different take on the matter.
“Hey, baby, once I get my ham hocks on this team, it won’t be long before the Shaq Daddies are butt-kickin’ the Spurs, Lakers and Rockets on a regular basis. Look out because Hurricane Shaquille is blowing through town.”
