After watching the Braves and Pirates celebrate punching their postseason ticket, Cubs manager Dale Sveum claimed the Cubs are not far from that experience.
“We are close, very close. We will be winning very soon,” said an excited Sveum. “All we need from the front office is two or three starting pitchers, four or five good bullpen guys … we could use a second baseman who can hit … a third baseman … and a completely new outfield. We are so close! I’m talking before the end of the decade here.”
Sveum seemed extremely optimistic, until he was asked about the coaching staff.
“I guess we could also use an entirely new coaching staff,” he said. “I hear Joe Girardi has been looking for a place in Chicago.”
