Detroit Tigers All-Star Prince Fielder won $5 on a Michigan Lottery scratch-off ticket and is spending it all in one place: he’s buying the city of Detroit.
“When I heard the city was filing for bankruptcy I wanted to do something, but I wasn’t sure how I could help,” Fielder said. “Then I went to this convenience store next to a Little Caesars where I had dinner and spent the only dollar in my pocket for a scratch-off ticket and won five bucks. So I thought to myself ‘What the hell. I’ll buy Detroit.'”
Fielder has promised no major changes to Detroit in the near future, but he does envision something that will have people saying “Prince Fielder lives here.”
“I want to build the world’s biggest all-you-can-eat buffet,” he said. “That much I know for sure.”
