The White Sox learned today they’ll have another representative at next week’s All-Star game festivities after Adam Dunn was added to the first-ever Mid-Summer Classic Strikeout Competition.
Dunn — who already has 103 strikeouts in just 296 at-bats — will be joined by fellow whiff-masters Mark Reynolds of Cleveland (108 K’s), Dan Uggla of Atlanta (110 K’s) and Chris Carter of Houston (120 K’s) in what the league is calling “a comedic lack-of-skills showcase where strikeout masters just try to put in play pitches thrown by a variety of Little Leaguers and slow-pitch softball pitching machines.”
Dunn said he was elated to be included in the festivities.
“Dunn like to smash home runs, but sometimes Dunn miss ball and strike out,” grunted Dunn. “Now Dunn get to strike out in front of lots of happy fans. That make Dunn happy.”
