Just a few minutes after the Blackhawks won the Stanley Cup Monday night in Boston, sports media pundits and journalists across the nation claimed they never had a doubt about Hawks goalie Corey Crawford.

“Glove side, shmove side, I say,” said Mike Milbury of NBC Sports. “He led them to a Cup just like I always knew he would … but I didn’t want to say it out loud and just state the obvious.”

The entire staff of ESPN, Fox Sports, the Chicago Sun-Times and the Chicago Tribune agreed.

“Crawford haters are so lame,” said Steve Rosenbloom. “I’ve been the lone voice of reason throughout the playoffs, pretty much writing in every column why Crawford was good enough to win it all.”

As for the media ignoring the six goals Tuukka Rask gave up in Game 4, instead focusing on Crawford’s glove-side issues?

“Never happened,” claimed Pierre LeBrun. “I challenge you to show me one article where Crawford isn’t praised as Rask’s equal. Just not right now. I have to submit my story about Crawford shutting down the B’s in Game 6.”
