Duncan Keith got into a bit of a verbal scuffle earlier this week following the Hawks’ 3-1 loss to Vancouver 3-1 when a female reporter from Vancouver asked him about an uncalled slash to Daniel Sedin; Keith responded with a bit of sarcasm saying she should become the “first female referee.” The defenseman apologized Wednesday after after team’s 4-1 win in Edmonton, but only got himself in more hot water.
“I want to apologize to the reporter for my comments. I was frustrated after the loss and, like usual, was in no mood to talk,” Keith said. “I understand she was just doing her job, but the questions she asked seemed a little harsh & crude, but I she was probably just on her period.”
