Las Vegas’ Caesar’s Palace Race & Sports Book released its annual odds for betting propositions for the coming baseball season, and few people are surprised that White Sox manager Robin Ventura was installed as the 4-5 favorite to capture the award for “Most Boring Baseball ‘Personality’ of 2013.”
In last year’s vote, Ventura finished second to Cubs’ pitcher Kerry Wood, who won despite retiring last May. Wood is an 8-time winner of the “Borometer,” the name given to the trophy presented to the winner.
“With A.J. Pierzynski no longer here to put the clubhouse in a catatonic state, I’m confident that I’ll increase my boredom factor by at least 25 percentage points,” said Ventura.
The vote is taken among members of the “Cranky Sportswriters Association,” an organization headed by Chicago Tribune columnist Steve Rosenbloom.
