Despite the view among many optimistic fans that the team will magically turn things around next season, Cubs president Theo Epstein reminded everyone that there’s always the year after next year, too.
“Sure, next year could be the one,” said Epstein. “But let’s not forget that there’s another season after 2013. And one after that. The Cubs are much more likely to win more than 80 games in 2014, not next season, if we’re being realistic about things.”
