Despite Dominican papers saying otherwise, a paternity test taken in April by Pedro Martinez revealed that the New York Yankees are indeed his daddy. The former Red Sox ace long suspected this was the case. Yankee fans shared the belief as well, frequently asking Martinez “Who’s your daddy?” during his playing days.
“I just tip my hat and call the Yankees my daddy,” Martinez said in a 2004 interview.
While Martinez looked dominant at times against his daddy, this comes as no surprise to most. The question remains, however, how more than one person, or perhaps an entity such as a baseball team, can actually be the father of a person. It seems physically unlikely, but scientists say it’s true.
When asked how he thinks this could be possible, Yogi Berra responded, “Baseball is 90 percent mental, and the other half is physical. It doesn’t have to make sense physically.”
