After Jeff Samardzija absolutely dominated the Reds during Wednesday night’s 3-1 victory in the Queen City, Cubs manager Dale Sveum declared that the Cubs were ecstatic to take a series from their divisional rival.
The Cubs have only played one game of this road series against the Reds, and have one more game left. However, Monday night’s rainout will not be played during this trip, and has subsequently been rescheduled. Sveum, therefore, notched the unplayed game as a victory.
“Any day we don’t actually lose, I consider that a win,” said the happy first-year manager.
“You tell me,” Sveum continued. “If you don’t get indigestion from watching Soriano play left field or you don’t go home and cuss at your children after watching Marmol throw a 92 mph slider into the third row, then that has to be a win. That’s a win for everybody. It’s a win for me. It’s a win for the fans. It’s a win for humanity.”
