WGN was recently in a contract dispute with DirecTV, on the basis of unfair compensation. WGN is taking it a step further this year, by blacking out innings in which Carlos Marmol or Kerry Wood are pitching, on the basis of unfair representation of actual Major League pitching.
The plan is to carry the game until these players step onto the rubber, at which point WGN will then cut to women in low-cut tops, celebrities or a Cusack or two. If the inning looks to last longer than 30 minutes, the station will show old episodes of According to Jim to induce the depression felt as if you were actually watching the game.
