During a recent wind storm in Arizona, Chris Sale was launched from the batters circle to the right field warning track. Many players and coaches were concerned, but new Sox skipper Robin Ventura is seeing this as an opportunity, as he plans to use Sale as a Sox themed flag to hang from the foul pole during his off days from pitching.
Sale, who resembles Jack Skeleton and is listed at MLB.com as six-foot-four and 62 pounds, is looking forward to this promotion.
“People told me that the Seattle Mariners used Randy Johnson as a flag when he first came to the majors,” said Sale. “Robin [Ventura] also explained that if I really stink it up, he is going to leave me up there until I start to fray at the edges.”
