With one of the most fruitful off-seasons for free agency in the history of the NFL knocking on the Bears’ door, it’s no secret the Monsters of the Midway need to address their lack of talent at the wide receiver position. Names like Wes Welker, Dwayne Bowe and Marques Colston have to be ringing in the ears of new GM Phil Emery.
However, all signs point to the Bears not pursuing a top free agent prize.
“Wide Receiver?” asked Emery. “C’mon. It’s just a guy that can run super fast and make humongous plays.”
The team has yet to contact any free agent receiver, but sources indicate they have been in touch former Bears great Curtis Conway, who is third all-time in career receptions for the Bears with 329, about a possible comeback.
Conway, 41, commented on the comeback.
“Why not?” he said. “I’ve got nothing else to do and I’m pretty sure I can run routes better than Devin Hester.”
