After beating the NY Rangers 4-2 in New York last night, the Blackhawks have announced a victory parade Sunday afternoon to honor their first win since Jan. 20.
“No one was as excited after last night’s win as when we won the Cup, but it’s a huge win regardless,” said team president John McDonough. “We’ve decided to celebrate the end of our nine-game losing streak with a parade down Michigan Avenue.”
Planners don’t expect the parade to rival the Stanley Cup parade from 2010, but do hope at least a few thousand people will show up.
“We’re fine with that,” said McDonough about the low attendance. “This way we’ll know who are real fans are when the playoffs roll around and the bandwagon fills up again.”
