While many fans in attendance at Wednesday night’s Hornets-Bulls game enjoyed Will Ferrell’s offbeat player introductions, some of basketball’s elite minds weren’t the least bit amused.
“There’s no place in this league for witty insight or thoughtful lightheartedness,” said NBA Commissioner David Stern. “To think there was no booming hip-hop or death-defying fireworks used during that intro in New Orleans makes me sick.”
NBA EVP of Basketball Operations Stu Jackson said he is looking into the incident and considering a hefty punishment for Ferrell.
“It’s clearly written in the first paragraph of our bylaws that all NBA introductions must include both pyrotechnics and hip-hop music blasted at a decibel-level consistent with a 747 jet engine,” said Jackson. “Because Ferrell failed to adhere to our rules, we are considering a punishment that will include a full day of watching nothing but ‘Semi-Pro.'”
Added Jackson: “God that was a terrible movie.”
