In the wake of signing Cuban defector, pitcher Gerardo Concepcion, the Cubs have made no bones that their willing to go after talent from the Caribbean island. In fact, recent reports have linked the Cubs to other Cuban prospects including Yoenis Cespedes and Jorge Soler.
In efforts to attract more Cuban players to the club, Chairman Tom Ricketts has decided to drop the S from the end of the team name and exchange it with the letter A.
“We’ve got to make these guys as comfortable as possible,” Ricketts said after inking Concepcion. “What could make them more comfortable if their jersey reads ‘Cuba’ instead of ‘Cubs’?”
