Josh McCown hasn’t played organized basketball since he won an All-District second team honors as a senior in high school, but after his dunk on the Green Bay goalpost Sunday night, NBA teams are giving him a look, including the Bulls.
“Five months ago, I was coaching high school football,” McCown said. “Now I’m a starting QB in the NFL with a chance at the NBA. It’s been a Christmas miracle.”
Bulls GM Gar Forman said the team was impressed by his hops and are already looking for ways to plug him into their roster.
“At six-foot-four and 215, he might be a nice fit as another solid backup to Rip Hamilton,” Forman said. “And it would give us the opportunity to get John Lucas III off the roster, something I’ve been trying to do for two years.”
Of course, any NBA team that wants to sign McCown will have to wait at least one more week.
“We still need him for the Vikings game,” Bears GM Jerry Angelo stated. “I’m trying to save my job here.”
